SRNT’s new logo aims to position the Society at the forefront of the global community in nicotine and tobacco research by highlighting the organization’s global reach while emphasizing its dedication to scientific rigor.Through surveys and interviews, the core brand attributes were identified as:

In an effort to exemplify the core brand attributes in a way that conveys SRNT’s key message, the designer, Morgan Smail, took cues from a few different relevant sources.
Strong references were drawn from the circular forms found in the rich visual worlds of bioscience, academia, and even global affairs to create a powerful and heavily symbolic mark.
The final design is a stylized interpretation of an nAChR with conceptual emphasis on the binding nature of this chemical phenomenon. This visual works simultaneously to reference the cohesion of the community SRNT represents.
Finally, the symbol itself is rendered in a structure evoking the prestigious connotations of a laurel wreath, creating a universal sense of gravitas that members around the world can embrace with the utmost pride of association.
