SRNT Newsletter

May/June 2004, Volume 10, Number 2

From the Editor

by Karen Saules, Ph.D.

Dear SRNT'ers,

I hope you enjoy this issue of the SRNT Newsletter, which follows the new format established by my esteemed predecessor, Judith Gordon. A huge thanks goes out to Judith and her team, who have been of great assistance during this transition period. SRNT has been very fortunate to have benefited from their expertise over the past three years. As for me, personally, I was quite relieved that, due to their guidance, production of this first issue has not been quite as overwhelming as I had feared.

You will note that this issue highlights our recent annual meeting in Scottsdale. I hope you all enjoyed this year's meeting as much as I did. To echo Ken Warner's sentiments, I found the meeting to be exceptionally stimulating and productive. David Drobes and Laura Cousino Klein's meeting summary is intended to provide those who attended with an enjoyable walk down Òmemory laneÓ and should serve as an effective enticement to promote a comparable turnout for future meetings. Thanks, David and Laura!

I would like to welcome Ken Warner as our new President and Marina Picciotto as our new Member Delegate at Large. We owe Ken a debt of gratitude for unflinchingly assuming his role as President much sooner than any of us had anticipated. SRNT is fortunate to have a large membership of committed individuals that will ensure effective leadership into the future. While I'm on the topic of our membership, I should also note how impressed I was with SRNT's collective productivity as I was editing our list of recent Member Publications. Please take a moment to review your colleagues' publications, and I am confident you will feel likewise.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our new Editorial Assistants, Minden Shadle and Ryan Sexton. Mindy is a third-year graduate student in the EMU Clinical Psychology doctoral program who has co-authored several SRNT presentations with me in recent years. Fortuitously for us all, Mindy has years of expertise in graphic design and is far more creative than I. You can thank Mindy for any appealing visuals and streamlined formatting that may be included in this or future issues. Her fiance, Ryan, is a Web designer who is also now on board to help us out. Ryan has worked with me on a web site for another organization, and that group has been very impressed with his efficiency and professionalism. Welcome, Mindy & Ryan!

My gratitude goes out to all of you who sent in highlights, recent publications, job postings, pictures, commentary, and ideas for future issues. In particular, I think you will find Marcus Munafò's book review and John Hughes list of journal impact factors to be noteworthy contributions.

Having gotten over my first wave of trepidation, I'm feeling emboldened to take on new challenges, if any of you have ideas for future issues. Please do not hesitate to send me your suggestions, contributions, comments, letters, and feedback on both content and format. You are welcome contact me at ksaules@emich.edu, or by more-traditional methods, if you have any suggestions or would like to contribute to future issues.

Warm regards,
