The scientific program is almost full now and confirmed international speakers include Margaretha Haglund, Robert West, Laurent Huber and Richard Hurt with many others invited. The first day begins with a pre-conference on women and tobacco and there is also a two day pre-conference organized by Karen Guttierez called Global Dialogue for Effective Stop Smoking Campaigns. The American Cancer Society will have their Global Smoke-free Partnership Awards at the opening ceremony.
The five main plenary sessions are on women and tobacco, latest developments in treatment, economic aspects of tobacco use and control, smoke-free environments, and the FCTC. Included in the parallel sessions are writing for science journals, quit-lines, health warning and packaging, regulation, industry document research, and tobacco control research needs in Latin America.
