We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 12th Annual Meeting of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT) which will be held February 15-18, 2006 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida, USA. The meeting will begin with an Opening Reception on the evening of Wednesday, February 15th, followed by three days of outstanding scientific programming. Featured aspects of the program are as follows:

Keynote Address: On Thursday, February 16th, Dr. Robert West, Director of Tobacco Studies and Professor of Health Psychology, Cancer Research UK Health Behaviour Unit, University College London, will deliver the keynote address, entitled "What use are theories and models in understanding and combating nicotine dependence?"

Clinical Theme Lecture: Dr. Caryn Lerman, Mary W. Calkins Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Annenberg Public Policy Center, and Director of the Transdisciplinary Tobacco Use Research Center at the University of Pennsylvania, will deliver a lecture entitled "Pharmacogenetic Approaches to Nicotine Dependence Treatment", which will also be on Thursday, February 16.

Pre-Clinical Theme Lecture: Dr. Trevor Robbins, a Fellow of the Royal Society, and Professor of Experimental Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience, University of Cambridge, will deliver a lecture entitled "Neuropsychological models of psychomotor stimulant use, abuse, and addiction" on Friday, February 17.

Public Health/Epidemiology Theme Lecture: Dr. Prabhat Jha, Canada Research Chair in Health and Development, Public Health Sciences, University of Toronto, Director, Centre for Global Health Research, and St. Michael's Hospital Research Scholar, McLaughlin Centre for Molecular Medicine, will deliver a lecture entitled "Tobacco use and global poverty: Evidence and action" on Saturday, February 18.

Awards Addresses: As recipient of the 2006 Langley Award for Basic Research on Nicotine and Tobacco, Dr. William Corrigall, of Corrigall Consulting, Thornhill, ON, and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota, will deliver an address entitled "Nicotine Addiction: Discovery Research Then and Now" during the Awards Presentation session. Other Meeting Events: As in previous SRNT meetings, the program will feature symposia, paper sessions, and poster presentations that represent three primary conference tracks: pre-clinical, clinical, and public health/epidemiology. A major aim of this meeting is to facilitate connections and communication among these three disciplinary approaches, within the scientific program and during informal networking and poster sessions. There will also be a Members' Meeting and exhibitors on hand throughout the conference.

In addition to the main scientific program, there will be two exciting pre-conference satellite meetings on Wednesday, February 15. There is no cost for participating in either meeting, however space is limited and pre-registration is required. Links are provided below for pre-registration:

National Cooperative Drug Discovery Groups for Nicotine Addiction - A NIDA Synthesis Meeting. This NIDA-sponsored meeting will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It will highlight the range of ligand discovery and development research from basic science to clinical trials currently funded under the National Cooperative Drug Discovery Groups (NCDDG). Please visit http://conferences.masimax.com/srnt05 for more information and to pre-register.

Addressing Tobacco in Health Care National Forum: Translating Health Services Research into Practice and Policy: This meeting will be held from 1:00-5:00 pm and is being coordinated by the Addressing Tobacco in Managed Care National Program Office and funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This pre-conference will provide tobacco control researchers, health services researchers, and others with the opportunity to discuss two emerging opportunities in systems changes and tobacco control: the upcoming PHS Guideline update and applying lessons from tobacco to other health risk behaviors. Please visit www.atmc.wisc.edu for the agenda and registration information.

There will also be several workshops and panel discussions offered during the lunch break on Monday and Tuesday. Workshop proposals are being solicited and will be announced prior to the meeting. If you would like to organize a workshop for the annual meeting, please contact the Program Chair, Suzanne Colby, at Suzanne_Colby@brown.edu.
